Jon and I got in another 3 point game (sorry, I'm the bottle neck! Painting horsies takes extra time!) over the weekend. We rolled up "The Escort". I didn't really have a suitable model for a baggage train, so we used a magically levitating stack of crates and barrels. Use your imagination!
The mission calls for 3, but since we were playing at half the points we reduced it to 2.

Steveaux The Fragrant's Normans
- Warlord on Horse
- 4x Norman Knights (hearthguard)
- 4x Norman Knights (hearthguard)
- 4x Norman Knights (hearthguard)
Jon the Dirty's Vikings
- Warlord
- 4x Hirdmen (hearthguard)
- 4x Hirdmen Chicks (hearthguard)
- 8x Bondi (warriors)
The start of the game. |
Jon's Warlord, Hearthchicks, and Bondi guard the baggage. |
Another unit of hearthguard cover Jon's right flank. |
Jon's top of 1 |
Jon generally moves forward |
I forgot that Jon could bait my warlord. D'oh! Because his warlord is within movement range of mine, as a matter of honor, mine must attack his! |
My turn 1. |
Chaaaaaaarge! |
Jon the Dirty is taken out. |
A unit of Norman Hearthguard slam into Jon's warrior unit, leaving 3 Viking warriors and 1 Norman hearthguard standing |
Bottom of 1. |
TURN TWO
Jon's board top of 2. |
Jon's Warrior Chicks charge the fatigued Normans |
And wipe them out at the cost of 2 of their own. |
Bottom of 2. I got the Dex AIE but wound up not using- all that fatigue would hurt too badly |
Instead my warlord retreats- erm... strategically withdraws to rest up. |
Come and get me! |
TURN THREE
Jon basically moves everything forward and/or rests. |
I mostly do the same. |
My Hearthguard encircle the Vikings. |
TURN FOUR
The baggage train keeps on keepin' on |
The Normans charge the battered Viking Bondi. |
And wipe them out. |
TURN FIVE
Steveaux is mostly rested up now. |
TURN SIX
Chaaaaarge! |
Using "We Obey" and "Side by Side" the Normans ride down the remaining 3 warriors |
Leaving just baggage on Jon's turn. |
One baggage escapes, the other doesn't. |
With one baggage off the board and one destroyed, we're not sure how to call it. Draw? Viking win? Norman win? Ultimately we decide to call it a fun battle and let history decide.
